Types of Services
MBTelehealth provides Manitobans with access to health services through the use of technologies, to overcome the barriers of distance, time, and expense. MBTelehealth connects people to the information and services they require to manage their health closer to home.
Videoconferencing and Virtual Visits
MBTelehealth Videoconferencing – provides secure, real-time, room-based videoconferencing sessions enabling participants to communicate between two or more locations. This service is used in Manitoba and surrounding jurisdictions to support health-care delivery.
Microsoft Teams (Teams by MBT) – allows for scheduled virtual visits to a patient in their home. It is also a collaboration tool for clinical and administrative meetings.
Zoom for Healthcare – This service has a licensing cost and can only be used in certain instances where Teams does not meet the requirements. Contact Virtual Care for more information if you require this service.
Virtual Visit Provider Portal/Connection Dialer – allows health-care providers to launch this service from their computer or mobile device anywhere high speed internet is available. It provides secure, real-time videoconferencing that can be used for clinical and non-clinical telehealth events.
Clinical Secure Messaging
TigerConnect – allows for seamless communication between health-care providers using video, voice and text. This tool allows for Critical Alerts which can be enabled to sound, even if the phone is in do not disturb/focus mode or on silent.
Microsoft Teams – allows for group communication across multiple sites. This tool is often used by programs that need to share PHI securely, but don’t need the Critical Alert function offered in TigerConnect.
eConsult
eConsult (Store and Forward) – enables health-care providers to ask questions and/or send digital images of some non-urgent health-related conditions to a specialist without the patient having to travel.
BASE eConsult – enables health-care providers to ask questions and/or send digital images of some non-urgent health-related conditions to a specialist without the patient having to travel.
